Because LITTLE changes make BIG differences

Most people respond to difficult life events or situations with negative emotions such as anger, sadness, guilt or shame, to name a few. This is normal and natural.
However, often the feelings provoked by difficult life events or situations, can be overwhelming, cause emotional distress, and negatively impact on the quality and enjoyment of everyday life.
The degree emotional distress a person feels as a result of such difficult life events depends, only partly, on the event itself. It is more the way a person views, or describes the event to themselves, that has more of an impact on their psychological health.
Basically, the way we think and feel about situations or events, past or present, can cause us to experience psychological disturbances such as depression, anxiety, rage or guilt, rather than us experiencing normal levels of emotional distress in relation to the event or situation. These are painful emotions that can lead to difficulties in our lives.
